HitDriver Killed in Hit and Run on Interstate 26

A woman was hit and killed after she stopped on Interstate 26 in Henderson County, North Carolina. The accident happened at about 12:30 am on Christmas morning near mile marker 46. Police were called to the location for a report of a serious collision, and when they arrived, they found the victim lying in the roadway. The victim was dead at the crash scene.

According to a witness, the woman was driving with an orange safety cone stuck in the underneath of her vehicle. She stopped to remove the cone and fell out of her vehicle and onto the road. Another driver stopped to assist. The other driver helped move her vehicle out of the roadway when the woman was suddenly hit by a semi-truck. The big rig did not stop, and police are investigating the accident.

2One Student Killed and Two Injured in Crash With Tanker Truck

One high school student was killed, and two others were injured in a morning crash near their school. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District confirmed the collision and offered counseling to assist students and others who were affected by the terrible tragedy. The accident happened in Mint Hill, near the intersection of Blair Rd. and Allen Station Drive, which is located about a mile from Rocky River High School, where all three victims were students.

Asheboro was the scene of a number of collisions caused by falling truck debris. Debris that fell off a truck on Interstate I-73/74 South caused multiple accidents. In all, the debris resulted in five collisions that included 14 vehicles. The accidents all occurred along a stretch of Interstate 73/74 near Spero Road as well as near Vision Drive and Pineview Road. The police reported the accidents all happened at about the same time, and each incident involved several or more vehicles.
