Asheboro was the scene of a number of collisions caused by falling truck debris. Debris that fell off a truck on Interstate I-73/74 South caused multiple accidents. In all, the debris resulted in five collisions that included 14 vehicles. The accidents all occurred along a stretch of Interstate 73/74 near Spero Road as well as near Vision Drive and Pineview Road. The police reported the accidents all happened at about the same time, and each incident involved several or more vehicles.

3-1NTSB Calls Highway Deaths a Public Health Crisis

Highway deaths continue to rise, so much so that the National Transportation Safety Board has declared a public health crisis. There are about 43,000 deaths each year as a result of accidents on United States roadways. The statement from the NTSB came after a serious and deadly crash of a high school band bus in Ohio that resulted in the fatalities of several students and adults.

The crash occurred on Interstate 70 near Etna, Ohio, and involved the student charter bus, a tractor-trailer, a commercial vehicle, and two passenger vehicles. In addition to the fatalities, at least 18 additional people were transported to local hospitals with various injuries. This is just one of many fatal accidents in the United States this year.

A serious crash left one teenager dead and others seriously injured in Charlotte. The accident happened on Raintree Lane and Rounding Run Road in the Cedarwood Country Club area, near NC 16 and NC 51. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police department (CMPD) and Medics responded to the accident, which happened in the late evening hours. The accident happened between two vehicles, when a speeding vehicle crashed into another, according to the police. Four injured people were transported to the hospital. One of the people, a teen, was transported in critical condition and later died.
