An early morning crash in east Charlotte resulted in the death of one of the drivers. The accident happened at about 5:00 am between two pickup trucks. The deadly accident occurred at the intersection of Hood Road and Plaza Road Extension. The accident occurred between two pickup trucks. Unfortunately, the crash resulted in one fatality.

7Multiple Vehicle Crash Involving Garbage Truck Injures Four People

A recent vehicle accident sent four people to the hospital, one in critical condition. The crash happened in the southbound lanes of I-85 in Charlotte, near the Beatties Ford exit 37. All southbound lanes of I-85 were shut down for a time immediately following the crash. The accident involved several vehicles, along with a garbage truck. The accident appeared to be extremely serious, leaving one vehicle overturned and another that hit a tree.

The details of what caused this crash have not been released. Three passenger vehicles, along with a large garbage truck, were all part of the accident. One vehicle left the roadway and flipped upside down. Another vehicle left the road and crashed into a tree. Medical personnel were called to the scene and began treating victims. Four victims were transported to the hospital, with at least one of the victims sustained life-threatening injuries.

Charlotte started a program five years ago called “Vision Zero.” The purpose of the program was to bring down traffic deaths to zero by the year 2030. Sadly, the number of traffic deaths is not decreasing despite efforts made by Charlotte. According to the Charlotte Observer, the number of traffic deaths in Charlotte increased to 125 in 2022, up from 81 in 2020.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has added a new safety standard. The NHTSA is an agency under the United States Department of Transportation. A semi-truck driver has been arrested following a serious crash involving multiple vehicles. The accident occurred on northbound Interstate 95 in Wilson County. The incident involved several big rigs as well as two SUVs. The accident resulted in five deaths and several injuries. The crash closed down the roadway for about nine hours while law enforcement reviewed the scene and cleared the wreckage. The NTSB is investigating the accident.

According to a statement from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when a Chevy pickup truck rear-ended a van. A girl seated in the back seat of the van received life-threatening injuries and was air-lifted to UNC Medical Center. The injuries included a skull fracture and broken leg. The driver of the truck was cited for failure to reduce speed.
