Motorcyclist Dies After Incident With Reckless Driver
A motorcyclist has died following a crash that was caused by a reckless driver. The incident happened on Turnipseed Road, near Old Medlin Farm Road, in Wake County. North Carolina State Highway Patrol released information about the crash that resulted in the death of the motorcyclist. The driver of the other vehicle did not stop, and law enforcement is looking for it. The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
What Caused the Motorcycle Accident?
The fatal accident was the result of road rage and reckless driving on the part of the passenger vehicle. Several motorcycles were traveling slowly together because one of the bikes was experiencing mechanical problems. The driver of a passenger vehicle came up behind the group and was honking and driving erratically. The driver then got in front of the motorcycles and slammed on the brakes in an apparent act of road rage. The driver had to pass recklessly in a no-passing zone. The vehicle then continued in front of the motorcyclists.
One of the bikers drove ahead to catch up to the vehicle to obtain the license plate number. At that time, the vehicle again slammed on the brakes, causing the motorcycle rider to quickly lay down his bike to avoid a collision. The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries, and the other vehicle did not stop. This is considered a no-contact accident, and the police are searching for the woman driver who caused the crash.
Motorcycle Accidents are Serious
Accidents involving motorcycles often result in serious or life-threatening injuries to riders. Passenger vehicles need to take care to watch for motorcycles on the roads and drive defensively at all times. In this incident, the passenger car driver was purposely driving in a reckless manner caused by road rage. The driver stopped abruptly in order to cause harm to the motorcyclists. Although the motorcycle rider did not hit the back of the vehicle, he was forced to put his bike down while driving, which resulted in fatal injuries.
Who is to Blame for the Accident?
A complete investigation of the crash will need to take place to determine the details of the incident. In most rear-end collisions, the driver who hits from behind is at fault because they failed to stop. However, there are some instances when the driver in front is at fault. In this particular crash, the passenger driver was acting in a reckless manner and caused a crash, even though the motorcycle did not make contact with the vehicle. This is called a no-contact accident, or phantom accident.
More investigation will need to be done to make a final determination of fault in this case. Even though an impact did not occur, there was an accident, and the other driver left the scene. Drivers are required to stop immediately when an accident happens. In this case, the driver is being sought for questioning and possible charges.
